Rugby Creek Animal Rescue (RCAR) has been operated by the Smart family as a rescue for the past 10 years in Grayson Co, VA.
The Smart family relocated from Burke Co, NC where they did animal rescue work for over 10 years prior!
RCAR is registered as a Virginia non-profit corporation and is designated by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization so your contributions are fully tax-deductible, and all donations support our rescue program.
We hope that our new endeavor will bring the public support and finances needed to keep RCAR in operation so that we may continue our efforts to rescue animals in need!Though the Smart family are the mainstay of the organization, the rescue efforts would not be complete without assistance from willing volunteers!
Dr.
Patrice Covington in particular has assisted RCAR for over 7 years in offering veterinary assistance to our rescued animals.
Dr.
Covington operates her own animal rescue out of her veterinary clinic, Mitchell Mill Animal Hospital and small pet rescue, MMAH Rescue in Raleigh, NC.

RCAR currently houses approximately 25 horses, 10 dogs, 8 cats, 13 goats and some chickens.
While many are permanent residents, there are also animals available for adoption and numerous animals in rehabilitation at any given time.
